Job Description

The DFS Upgrade Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of Distributed File Systems (DFS) across the local country environment. This role includes administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of DFS infrastructures, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance with enterprise standards. The specialist will collaborate with network, security, and application teams to deliver seamless DFS upgrades and migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy DFS architectures using technologies such as Microsoft DFS.

  • Administer and monitor DFS namespaces, replication groups, and file shares.

  • Troubleshoot DFS issues including replication failures, namespace inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks.

  • Implement file system security, access controls, and auditing.

  • Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure seamless upgrades.

  • Manage Windows file shares and managed folders.

  • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery testing.

  • Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices.

  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements.

  • Knowledge and experience in Active Directory (AD) and Organizational Units (OU).

Required & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration or storage engineering with a focus on DFS.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft DFS, Active Directory, NTFS permissions, and file replication services.

  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation and monitoring.

  • Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies.

  • Experience with cloud-based DFS solutions (Azure File Sync, GCP).

  • Knowledge of Windows-based DFS systems (GlusterFS, Ceph).

  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent.
