Role Overview
For our Client we are looking for a qualified partner for Senior DevOps / SysOps Engineer (m/f/d) position with a strong Linux background and deep operational expertise. The role is ideal for someone who understands systems under the hood - not only at the tooling level, but also at the operating system, security, networking, and infrastructure layers. It is good to have strong troubleshooting skills, broad infrastructure knowledge, and practical experience working in complex production environments.
The position is fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot complex Linux infrastructure and operating system issues at L3/L4 escalation level
Analyze logs, diagnose incidents, perform root cause analysis, and resolve production problems
Manage and maintain Linux systems and services, including: systemd, boot process, SSH, permissions, service management, performance tuning
Work with Linux internals and core operating system concepts: processes, memory management (RAM/swap, filesystems, networking, initramfs, kernel basics
Configure and maintain Linux security mechanisms, including SELinux, hardening, and security policies
Support secure infrastructure practices and vulnerability analysis
Build and improve automation and operational tooling using Bash, Python, and Ansible
Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes (Jenkins or similar tools)
Work with containerized workloads and container technologies (Docker / Podman / Kubernetes basics)
Manage and support virtualization environments (KVM preferred, VMware or similar also acceptable)
Monitor, optimize, and improve system reliability, stability, and performance
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams on operational improvements and system integrations
Participate in platform hardening, infrastructure improvements, and operational automation initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience as Infrastructure Engineer/ Systems Engineer/ Senior Linux Administrator/ DevOps / SysOps Engineer with strong infrastructure background
Deep understanding of Linux systems and operating system internals
Very good practical knowledge of: Linux administration, troubleshooting, system services, logs, networking, permissions, security
Strong production troubleshooting and analytical skills
Experience working at advanced escalation/support levels (L3+)
Hands-on experience with: Bash, Python, Ansible, administrative scripting
Good understanding of: TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, network diagnostics
Experience with Linux security and system hardening, especially SELinux
General knowledge of containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Podman
General virtualization knowledge (KVM, VMware, or similar)
Understanding of CI/CD concepts and deployment automation
Ability to build solutions, integrate components, and solve infrastructure problems independently
