About the Role:
Are you ready to manage the technological backbone of a global leader? Are you passionate about large-scale Linux system engineering and automation that drives performance and security? Bosch is seeking an experienced Linux System Engineer to join our worldwide team responsible for Ubuntu Server, Red Hat (RHEL) Server, and Cloud services.
In this role, you will be a key expert responsible for the stability, security, and evolution of one of the world's largest server infrastructures. You will design, implement, and automate solutions that ensure the uninterrupted operation of critical Bosch systems across the globe. Your Mission: What You'll Be Doing
As a Linux System Engineer, you will be the driving force of our infrastructure, transforming complex challenges into elegant, automated solutions.
Manage Infrastructure at a Massive Scale: You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and upkeep of Linux operating systems (Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL) in an environment of tens of thousands of servers, leveraging advanced automation.
Become an Automation Master: You will develop Ansible playbooks and roles, create scripts, and program to continuously improve our CI/CD processes and automate everything—from deployments to daily maintenance.
Implement Top-Tier Security: You will stay current with the latest security standards, implement hardening measures, and proactively respond to audit findings and IT risks.
Solve Complex Problems: You will collaborate with L1/L2 support teams, analyzing and resolving escalated technical issues to ensure system stability and high availability.
Optimize and Monitor: You will enhance our monitoring systems (Icinga, Nagios, Grafana) to ensure full visibility into the infrastructure's health and proactively identify potential issues.
Operate in the Cloud and On-Premise: You will perform host management and "golden image" management on cloud platforms, as well as maintain physical server hardware (x86, Sparc).
Act as a Key Advisor: You will consult and collaborate with IT and DevOps teams on security best practices for Linux/Unix systems in both on-premise and cloud environments.
Qualifications

We are looking for a seasoned engineer with deep technical knowledge, a passion for automation, and a strong sense of ownership.
Core Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Linux system administration and engineering (Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL) in large-scale, automated environments.
Automation Expertise: Hands-on experience with Ansible Automation Platform (formerly Tower) and CI/CD. You must be proficient in developing Ansible playbooks/ roles to automate tasks at scale.
Integration & Authentication: Experience integrating Linux infrastructure with identity providers (AD, PAM) and excellent knowledge of SSSD and Kerberos.
Large-Scale Management: Experience with enterprise patch management solutions (e.g., Satellite, SUSE Manager, BigFix) in environments exceeding 10,000 systems.
IT Security: Comprehensive knowledge and experience in IT security and cybersecurity.
Work Methodologies: A strong understanding of DevOps, SRE, Agile principles, and the ITIL framework.
Communication Skills: The ability to communicate and coordinate effectively to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Independence: The ability to work independently in accordance with established organizational standards.
