Summary:
In this role, you will be tasked with working closely with avionics engineers to review and design electrical integration details to ensure details are documented and communicated to all relevant stakeholders for flight critical electronics, PCB assemblies and FPGA-based processing architectures.
Responsibilities:
- Full cycle PCB design including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug, and system integration
- Conduct bring-up and design work on microcontrollers, ensuring seamless integration within the system
- Troubleshoot issues that span electrical and software boundaries, utilizing both lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and basic software debugging tools
- Perform power design, including development and integration of power management systems and components
- Develop payloads and subsystems (sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking)
- Create system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment within a subsystem
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex system designs
- Experience designing mixed-signal PCBs with multiple layer counts, layer stackup and impedance matching for power and sensor applications, understanding correct grounding approaches and employing appropriate board protections and filtering
- Experience designing PCBs with Altium software
- Ability to perform power system and electrical loading analysis, simulation, and testing to determine optimal solutions
- High competence using lab test equipment (benchtop power supplies, electronics loads, oscilloscopes, DMM, logic/spectrum analyzers, etc.) with familiarity of thermal and EMI test chambers and using basic software debugging tools
- Familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB)
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, including bring-up and design work
- Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance

With your knowledge of analog electronics, you will design signal conditioning circuitry and with additional knowledge of discrete electronic components and integrated circuits, you will help design actuator controllers like the driver circuitry required in a motor controller and the interfaces to power electronics. You will support the team in refining the electrical architecture of the current prototype and driving the system closer to a flight-ready configuration with each iteration.Your first project will involve a custom motor controller with power levels never before implemented in space and an electromechanical system with novel energy recycling functions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking concepts from schematic to hardware, solving complex electrical challenges, and working closely with mechanical and manufacturing teams to bring cutting-edge space hardware to life. What You'll Do: Design, develop, and build electrical prototypes for Space Kinetic's core technology. Key Responsibilities : Full-Stack Software Development Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications across front-end and back-end environments Develop scalable and maintainable software solutions aligned with project requirements Participate in software architecture and system integration activities Support application enhancements throughout the software development lifecycle Cloud Integration & Deployment Support deployment and integration activities within cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Collaborate on cloud-based application architecture and service integration Ensure system scalability, reliability, and performance across distributed environments Support cloud deployment and maintenance activities GUI Development Develop and maintain graphical user interfaces using modern development frameworks and tools Ensure usability, responsiveness, and performance of user-facing applications Collaborate with teams to improve interface functionality and user experience Support GUI enhancements and issue resolution activities Database Management Work with SQL and NoSQL database technologies for data storage and retrieval Support database integration, optimization, and performance improvements Ensure data integrity and efficient access across applications and systems Assist with data modeling and database maintenance activities Agile Development & Collaboration Participate in Agile development processes including Scrum and Kanban methodologies Collaborate with software engineers, technical leads, and cross-functional stakeholders Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and code review activities Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the development process Cybersecurity & Issue Resolution Apply cybersecurity best practices during software design and implementation Support secure coding standards and software quality initiatives Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective actions Documentation & Communication Create and maintain technical documentation related to software development activities Communicate technical topics, project updates, and issue resolution clearly to stakeholders Support knowledge sharing and collaboration across teams Ensure proper tracking of development activities and technical issues Profile : Software engineer with strong full-stack development experience and solid programming fundamentals Comfortable working in Agile environments with cross-functional technical teams Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively Effective communicator with collaborative and problem-solving oriented approach Must Have : 5+ years of experience in software development Strong programming skills in Java, Python, and/or C++ Experience with both front-end and back-end development Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) Experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies Experience working within Agile methodologies (Scrum / Kanban) Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Good communication and collaboration abilities Experience with GUI development frameworks and tools Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and secure software development Good to Have : Experience with cloud-native application architecture Experience with DevOps or CI/CD environments Exposure to distributed systems or microservices architecture Experience working in large-scale enterprise or automotive environments Knowledge of software performance optimization and scalability practices Experience with modern UI/UX best practices and responsive design principles ALTEN Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
