The Opportunity & About the Team
As a Product Manager, AI Platform at Zuora, you will define and deliver the foundational platform that powers all of Zuora's AI capabilities. You'll own the end-to-end architecture—from the agent orchestration layer to user-facing interfaces—that enables intelligent, context-aware experiences across our product suite. Your work will directly shape how enterprise customers interact with AI agents that transform subscription management, billing operations, and revenue intelligence.
This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, applied AI, and product design. You'll partner closely with engineering to build the infrastructure that connects AI agents to applications, manages conversation state and memory, and provides the tools layer that lets agents take meaningful action. Your decisions will determine how AI capabilities scale across Zuora's ecosystem while maintaining enterprise-grade security, auditability, and user control.
A critical dimension of this role is cross-organizational leadership. You will interface with application product teams across the entire Zuora suite—Billing, Revenue, Payments, CPQ, and Platform—to enable their AI capabilities and experiences. You'll collaborate across the Product Management organization to ensure a unified, coherent end-to-end user experience. Success requires building strong relationships, establishing shared standards and patterns, and balancing platform consistency with the flexibility teams need to deliver differentiated AI experiences for their domains.
*This is a Hybrid position, so you’ll be working in-person in the Foster City office at least 3 days a week, with other days remote. Of course, you’re welcome to come into the office more often if you’re nearby.
What You'll Do
Own AI Platform Strategy – Lead the roadmap for Zuora's AI Platform, including the agent-to-application interaction layer, orchestration and session management, persona-based agent frameworks, and the centralized tools layer that connects agents to Zuora's services and APIs.
Enable AI Across the Zuora Suite – Partner with application product teams across Billing, Revenue, Payments, CPQ, and Platform to enable their AI capabilities. Provide platform components, patterns, and UX standards that allow teams to build domain-specific experiences while ensuring a coherent end-to-end user experience across the product portfolio.
Drive Platform Architecture Decisions – Partner with engineering on critical technical choices across the stack: cloud infrastructure services, agent development frameworks, memory and context management, and tool integrations that enable agent capabilities.
Build Intelligent User Experiences – Define how AI integrates into Zuora's applications, including contextual awareness, conversational interfaces, and seamless interactions across different entry points and modalities.
Establish Enterprise Controls – Own the product strategy for AI governance including permissions, configuration management, audit capabilities, and human-in-the-loop controls that give enterprise customers confidence in AI-assisted operations.
Evolve Platform Capabilities – Drive development of foundational features that make AI agents smarter, more personalized, and more useful over time—including memory, context management, automation, and new interaction paradigms.
Lead Rapid Iteration Cycles – Establish product feedback loops combining quantitative analytics (usage instrumentation, in-app feedback tracking) with qualitative customer insights (structured interviews, session replay analysis) to enable frequent AI releases and continuous improvement.
Drive Cross-Functional Execution – Collaborate across engineering, design, and product teams to deliver cohesive AI experiences. Lead UX audits to ensure consistent component usage and establish decision frameworks for when custom experiences add value versus complexity.
Establish External Thought Leadership – Represent Zuora in customer advisory discussions, industry events, and analyst briefings to position Zuora as a leader in enterprise AI platform innovation.
About You
- 5-8+ years of product management experience with demonstrated success at leading enterprise SaaS or platform companies, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML platforms, developer platforms, or foundational infrastructure products
- Deep experience building AI/ML platforms, including LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, conversation management, or similar technologies that power intelligent user experiences
- Strong technical foundation in platform architecture, API design, event-driven systems, and distributed architectures—comfortable partnering with engineering on decisions involving WebSocket protocols, agent orchestration, and memory management
- Proven success with platform products serving multiple internal and external consumers, including experience defining abstractions, establishing governance models, and balancing platform flexibility with product consistency
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to influence and align multiple product teams, establish shared standards, and drive adoption of platform capabilities across an organization
- Experience shipping AI features to enterprise customers, including navigating requirements around security, audit, permissions, and human-in-the-loop controls
- Data-driven product development approach with experience instrumenting features, analyzing usage patterns, and using feedback loops to drive rapid iteration
- Executive presence and ability to influence stakeholders across functions, including engineering leadership and C-level audiences
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field

- Experience with agent frameworks and orchestration (LangChain, LangGraph, AWS Bedrock/AgentCore, or similar)
- Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar tool-use patterns for AI agents

You'll own builder experience end-to-end. This role sits at the intersection of AI capabilities and builder usability - designing an experience where business technologists can build sophisticated AI agents without getting lost in complexity. You'll need to make hard calls about what to expose, what to abstract, and when to guide versus get out of the way. In this role, you will also be responsible to: Define, own and transform the entire experience where builders define agents and use them in recipes to achieve truly agentic experiences. Work closely with the PMs who own the recipe editor, knowledge base, and platform infrastructure to ensure the end-to-end builder journey is coherent. Spend significant time with customers understanding where they get stuck, what mental models they bring, and how you can bring delightful experiences at each stage in their journey Communicate the product strategy and requirements to key stakeholders Drive the product life cycle - ideation, design, prioritization, delivery, and adoption Bring teams together to define and implement product features Articulate product differentiation and value to internal and external stakeholders Define key metrics and measure the performance of features Requirements Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills Strong product management experience, with meaningful time spent on products where the UX challenge was making something powerful feel approachable. You've worked on tools that serve users across a skill spectrum and had to decide how much complexity to expose at each level. Track record of translating technical capabilities into interfaces that feel intuitive without dumbing things down. You understand the difference between hiding complexity and organizing it — and you've shipped products that do the latter well. B2B software but aren't bound by B2B conventions. You look at enterprise tools and see opportunities where others see "that's just how it is." You're drawn to products like Figma, Linear, or Notion that prove complex workflows can still feel elegant. Familiarity with AI/ML concepts — enough to understand what builders are trying to accomplish and where current tooling falls short. You don't need to tune models yourself, but you should be able to have informed conversations about RAG, prompting, and evaluation approaches. 7+ years in Product Management Experience designing builder/creator tools, workflow products, or platforms where users construct rather than just consume Demonstrated ability to simplify complex products through thoughtful UX — portfolio examples or case studies welcome Experience working closely with design teams on interaction-heavy products Familiarity with AI product concepts Strong written and verbal communication skills Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Nice to Have Background in design, or experience as a designer who transitioned to PM Experience with low-code/no-code platforms, IDE-like tools, or creative software Experience with products that serve both technical and less-technical users simultaneously Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics Strong written and verbal communication skills You're a strong communicator who can articulate design rationale to engineering, advocate for builder needs to leadership, and write clear product specs that don't leave interaction details to chance.For California applicants, the pay for this role may range between $185,000 - $250,000 plus benefits, perks, and equity.
