Automation Quality Engineer

Join our Warsaw Tech Hub as a Quality Engineer (Automation) to design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing solutions for Android mobile applications using Appium, Java, and Kotlin. You’ll collaborate closely with developers to ensure high product quality, contributing to automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and test strategies that support fast, reliable releases. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test scenarios for Android mobile features, including edge cases.

  • Build and maintain stable mobile automation tests using Appium (Java/Kotlin).

  • Debug issues using Android Studio, Logcat, and network tools to identify root causes.

  • Improve automation frameworks and expand test coverage.

  • Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues and validate fixes.

  • Write clean, maintainable automation code and follow best practices.

  • Own testing for small to medium mobile features end-to-end.

Qualifications and Technical Knowledge

  • Practical experience (3+ years).

  • Strong experience in mobile testing (Android), including understanding of mobile app architecture and lifecycle.

  • Hands-on experience with Appium for mobile test automation.

  • Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin for writing and maintaining automation tests.

  • Solid understanding of mobile-specific testing challenges (network conditions, device fragmentation, OS versions, performance constraints).

  • Experience with API testing and backend validation to support mobile testing.

  • Proficiency in SQL queries for test data validation.

  • Experience with debugging tools such as (Android Studio Logcat, Chrome DevTools or Postman / Charles Proxy).

  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies (functional, regression, integration, exploratory).

  • Familiarity with Agile workflows and defect tracking tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering.

Your main responsibilities: Test new features and improvements across iOS and Android applications to ensure a high-quality user experience. Design, write, and maintain automated mobile tests using BDD (Cucumber), Java, Selenium, and Appium. Contribute to the development, stability, and continuous enhancement of automated test suites and supporting frameworks. Perform manual and exploratory testing for scenarios not suitable for automation, including usability, edge cases, and device-specific behaviors. Create and update test cases for diverse devices, OS versions, and form factors ensuring broad coverage. Execute unit and functional tests on iOS and Android, collaborating with developers and validating outcomes as part of the QA strategy. You're ideal for this role if you have: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in mobile test automation and quality assurance. Strong expertise in creating and maintaining test automation frameworks with Cucumber, Selenium, and Appium. Solid programming skills in Java, with a focus on clean, maintainable, and reusable code. Experience automating tests on browsers and mobile devices (iOS and Android). Proven ability to develop effective test cases and execute testing on real devices or device farms. Familiarity with GitHub (or similar tools), CI/CD pipelines, and defect management via Jira. Good understanding of client/server interactions, APIs, network behavior, and environment considerations. Experience testing applications with different user roles and permissions. Comfortable working within Agile delivery streams, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
