Java Engineer (Workflow Specialist)
Senior • Remote
23,500 - 28,500 PLN/hr
Wroclaw, Poland
The Role
As a Workflow Specialist, you will be a core execution member of the dedicated migration squad.
This is the most specialised and highest-leverage role in the migration programme. This role requires a rare combination: deep understanding of rule-based automation systems on the source side (including strong domain knowledge), and the ability to translate those patterns into a modern workflow engine on the target side.
IN SHORT:
🌍 Remote work or on-site (Wrocław, Bielsko-Biała) – your choice!
💰Senior 140 - 170 PLN/h + VAT
Middle 120 - 140 PLN/h + VAT
☑️ B2B contract
What You'll Get:
The highest impact, most technically interesting role in the migration programme
Genuine ownership: you will design, build, and operate a toolkit from scratch, with direct input into architecture decisions
Long-term engagement: as the migrations scale, the Workflow Specialist role grows into a subject matter authority position with influence over tooling strategy and AI acceleration
High visibility within the programme: the toolkit you build is on the critical path, and its outcomes are tracked programme-wide at every phase gate - your contribution is never invisible.
Experience and Technical Skills
5+ years of experience in workflow automation, business rules engines, or process automation - with a proven track record of analysing and translating complex rule-based logic
Solid Java and JVM language skills (Java 21 ecosystem preferred); ability to read, debug, and extend existing codes (migration modules)
Experience designing and/or implementing workflow engines, BPM platforms, or rule engines - including multi-step sequences, conditional branching, event-driven triggers, and external system integration
Ability to read and interpret Smalltalk code or rule definitions at a functional level - you do not need to be a Smalltalk developer, but you must be able to reverse-engineer business logic from unfamiliar syntax
Rapid domain understanding: ability to quickly absorb unfamiliar, regulated business domains
Strong analytical skills: ability to reverse-engineer undocumented business rules, infer intent from runtime behaviour, and identify semantic equivalences across different automation paradigm.
Experience working with domain experts and subject matter experts (legal, financial, operations) to validate that technical implementations match business requirements - especially in regulated or legally sensitive contexts
Fluent English (written and spoken); ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate complex workflow semantics to both engineers and business stakeholders
Active use of AI-assisted tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot or similar) as part of daily development and problem-solving workflow - we expect AI tools to be a natural part of how you work
Nice to haves:
Direct experience with Cincom ObjectStudio or any Smalltalk-based system.
Background in debt management, collections, accounts receivable, or financial services - understanding of dunning processes, instalment plans, court filing procedures, and interest calculation rules significantly reduces ramp-up time.
Experience building code parsers, AST processors, or rule translators (even in other domains).
Familiarity with AI/ML-assisted automation: pattern clustering, rule classification, skeleton generation from labelled examples.
Experience in a migration context, particularly translating legacy automation to modern platforms.

For our Voice AI product, that means reliable runtime systems, strong deployment paths, and production infrastructure that lets engineering teams move fast without creating operational chaos. About the role This role is for a senior DevOps / platform engineer who can independently own how our Voice AI product ships and runs. You will work directly with the team building our Voice AI product rather than as part of a generic centralized Platform function. The job is to make deployment, reliability, observability, and operational quality materially better. That includes infrastructure, CI/CD, environments, incident follow-through, and the practical realities of running AI-heavy systems in production. Real hands-on experience deploying voice-related systems such as STT, TTS, or STS workloads is a strong plus because it is highly relevant to the direction of the work. Location – Warsaw, work from the office What You Will Own Improve how Voice AI services are deployed, run, observed, and supported in production. What We Are Looking For Strong senior-level experience in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, infrastructure engineering, or a similar hands-on role. Strong cloud and infrastructure fundamentals in AWS, Azure, or a comparable environment. Real experience with infrastructure as code and modern delivery pipelines. Strong operational judgment around reliability, observability, incident response, and production systems. Comfort moving across layers: infrastructure, backend services, developer workflows, and operational tooling. Clear communication and strong written habits, especially around runbooks, postmortems, and technical decision making. AI-native working style. You already use AI tools in daily engineering work and think in terms of leverage, automation, and better workflows. Strong Plus Real hands-on experience deploying or operating STT, TTS, STS, or similar voice-model workloads. Experience improving developer experience for product teams, not just operating infrastructure in isolation. Experience with security, access control, compliance-minded infrastructure, and pragmatic operational guardrails. Ability to debug problems that cut across application code, infrastructure, and third-party systems. How We Evaluate Fit We care more about independent ownership, systems judgment, and practical operating ability than about a perfect keyword match to every tool we use. Good distributed systems judgment: concurrency, failure handling, data consistency, async work, and service boundaries. Hands-on cloud experience in AWS, Azure, or a similar environment. Comfort with SQL and NoSQL systems, schema design, and performance tuning. Ability to go from problem statement to design to production rollout with real ownership. Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain systems, trade-offs, and incidents without hiding behind jargon. AI-native working style. You already use AI tools in your daily engineering workflow and want to keep pushing that further. Strong Plus Experience with LLM-backed systems, search, retrieval, AI infrastructure, or data-heavy pipelines. Working knowledge of TypeScript or the ability to contribute across the stack when needed. Experience shaping technical direction for other engineers, even without formal management responsibility. How We Evaluate Fit We care more about ownership, systems judgment, and learning velocity than a perfect keyword match to our stack. As Senior DevOps Engineer you will join a lean, experienced team — a DevOps Product Manager, Senior DevOps Engineer, a SysAdmin trio who are a genuine part of the team, and now you. You will take real ownership of the systems that keep 20,000 merchants running, work closely with the DevOps Product Manager on architecture and direction, and partner directly with our development teams — not as a support function, but as a technical co-owner of how we build and ship software. This is a hands-on role. You will spend your time improving reliability, reducing toil, and raising the engineering bar — not managing tickets. If you want a role where the decisions you make on Monday are running in production by Friday, this is it. At 6 months — CI/CD pipelines are measurably more stable, observability coverage has improved, and development teams notice the difference. At 12 months — you are a trusted technical co-owner of infrastructure decisions, on-call burden has decreased, and the team's delivery velocity is higher because of your contributions. WHY JOIN US Impact — play a key role in scaling infrastructure that powers 20,000 merchants across 6 continents Ownership — real technical autonomy; you will make architecture decisions, not just implement them Growth — we invest in people who want to go deep, not just up; expand your skills, your product understanding, and your influence in a team that keeps the right people for the long term Culture — a collaborative, no-nonsense team of 15 nationalities that values people who make their own decisions Remote-first — flexible hours and async-friendly culture; we care about output, not hours online Perks — competitive salary, health insurance, lunch card, and a comprehensive benefits package HIRING PROCESS We run a structured, respectful process designed to be efficient for both sides.
