Description

Emergency Medicine Physicians are needed in Western Texas for two staffing options. Option 1 is an independent group covering two hospitals, including a level 2 trauma center and a county hospital, with ABEM/board-eligible physicians and coverage for both physicians and midlevel clinicians. Option 2 is a smaller critical access facility about 1 hour 15 minutes from the main hospital, open to ABEM/ABPS or IM/FM physicians with ED experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide Emergency Medicine coverage across ED patients and shift schedules

• Manage transfers out for specific cases (e.g., operative pelvic fractures, burns, strokes requiring thrombectomy, pediatric ICU needs)

• Coordinate care with in-house and available support services (e.g., trauma surgeons, pharmacists, imaging)

• Support admissions workflow with minimal ED pushback; address mental health screening needs

• For Option 2: cover broader family medicine responsibilities (including OB coverage over 20 weeks) and work with limited specialty support

Requirements

• ABEM board-eligible or certified (Option 1)

• Open to practicing physicians and summer graduates

• Option 2: ABPS, or IM/FM with Emergency Department experience
