Description

The UX Test Engineer supports the Consolidated Cumulus User Experience (Dashboard) team by ensuring the quality, reliability, and operational readiness of the Cumulus Dashboard system. The role performs rigorous automated Verification and Validation (V&V) of Dashboard and UX code, ensuring predictable behavior across operational scenarios while meeting security and quality standards. You will bridge development and operations by partnering with the Core Test Engineer on end-to-end validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites (unit, integration, and end-to-end) for Cumulus Dashboard and UX code
• Verify that UX releases are operationally sound and scalable for large-scale mission use
• Maintain a regression library to prevent UX updates from breaking existing functionality
• Ensure code aligns with system standards and security requirements
• Collaborate with UX Developers to validate correct system behavior
• Develop test cases for expected and edge-case user flows
• Support Tier-2 resolution with technical evidence and test logs for UX failures
• Identify, document, and track defects; verify fixes with UX Developers
• Validate UX code works correctly when integrated with backend system workflows

Requirements

• Experience in software quality assurance with automated testing for cloud-based or microservice architectures
• Strong scripting skills in Node.js or Python for automated test scripts and harnesses
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, S3)
• Familiarity with cloud-native monitoring tools such as CloudWatch
• Ability to validate Earth science data formats and structured scientific metadata (HDF, NetCDF)
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Jenkins)
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and simulate complex failure modes in distributed systems
