Description

Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing operation of ArcGIS Enterprise in production. Own DevOps operations across AWS and Kubernetes (preferably EKS), ensuring reliability, availability, security, and scalability, while automating provisioning, deployments, updates, scaling, and backups. Provide technical leadership, mentor senior engineers, and help define architecture and operational best practices for the GIS platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, update, and operate ArcGIS Enterprise production environments

• Develop and maintain a GIS platform running on AWS EKS (Kubernetes)

• Ensure high availability, security, performance, and scalability

• Design and implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions

• Automate provisioning, deployments, updates, scaling, backup, and restore processes

• Create and evolve Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines

• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational dashboards

• Define standards for authentication, authorization, certificate management, and licensing

• Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, and incident response procedures

• Identify opportunities to optimize and automate to increase platform reliability

• Act as technical lead, mentor Senior Engineers, and support team development

• Collaborate with the GIS Engineering Manager, another Lead GIS DevOps Engineer, and Cloud/Platform/Data/Analytics teams

Requirements

• Very strong practical knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise and experience operating in production environments

• Experience administering and configuring ArcGIS Enterprise components (Portal, ArcGIS Server, Data Store, Web Adapters)

• Experience maintaining enterprise solutions on AWS

• Practical Kubernetes knowledge, preferably AWS EKS

• Experience deploying or operating ArcGIS on Kubernetes or other container platforms

• Good knowledge of Linux, networking, and cloud security

• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation (e.g., Terraform)

• Strong scripting skills in Python and/or Bash

• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD processes

• Knowledge of HA, DR, monitoring, and platform security concepts

• Ability to collaborate across engineering teams and share technical responsibility

• Ability to make technical decisions, solve complex problems, and support other engineers’ growth

• Very good communication and cross-team collaboration skills

• English proficiency at C1 level
