Lead DevOps Engineer

Senior • On-site

Warsaw, MA, Poland

Quick Facts

  • Lead DevOps Engineer (high-autonomy, high-impact role)
  • Focus: DevSecOps platform operations and end-to-end ownership
  • On-prem production Kubernetes and self-hosted platform services

Description

You will build and operate the shared technical platform for mission-critical space systems, working at the intersection of DevSecOps, security, AI, and delivery acceleration. The team expects you to own CI/CD, observability, infrastructure automation, and Kubernetes operations end-to-end—so delivery becomes faster, reliability improves, and technical debt shrinks.

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate the CI/CD platform and its build fleet, including capacity, reliability, autoscaling, and upgrade cycles.
  • Run the observability platform end to end with metrics, logs, traces, and alert routing/escalation.
  • Automate provisioning and host configuration with infrastructure managed as code by default.
  • Maintain the artifact and registry layer, including caching, retention, and distribution policy.
  • Own backup, restore, and disaster recovery for platform services and verify recovery works.
  • Operate production Kubernetes clusters on premises.
  • Improve the platform continuously—reduce toil, shorten feedback loops, and make the paved road the easiest path.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience running production infrastructure with software engineering and operations background.
  • Experience building platform capability from scratch (or close) and keeping it running under real load.
  • Hands-on ownership of a self-hosted CI/CD platform, including version upgrades, runner/agent fleet operations, and troubleshooting under load.
  • Hands-on operation of a self-hosted observability stack plus real alerting practice (instrumentation, metric/log design, trusted alerts).
  • Infrastructure as code mindset backed by production experience with declarative provisioning and configuration management.
  • Confident Linux systems engineering: networking, storage, systemd, TLS/PKI, plus performance and failure diagnosis.
  • Production Kubernetes experience, ideally on bare metal or on-prem clusters rather than only managed cloud.
  • Solid programming skills in at least one language: Python, Go, Java, C#, or C++.
