Description

Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses for optical instruments operating in the space environment. Build and develop Thermal Mathematical Models (TMM) in Thermal Desktop/ESATAN-TMS (or equivalent), define thermal requirements, support TVAC testing, and document results according to ECSS. Correlate computational models with test outcomes while working closely with mechanical, optical, and systems teams.

Responsibilities

• Run thermal analyses for optical instruments (steady-state and transient) for space applications
• Develop thermal control systems, including passive and active approaches
• Create thermal mathematical models (TMM) using Thermal Desktop/ESATAN-TMS (or equivalent)
• Coordinate with mechanical, optical, and systems engineers to ensure design compliance
• Define thermal requirements for instrument systems and subsystems based on input from design teams
• Support design and execution of environmental tests, including TVAC (Thermal Vacuum Chamber)
• Produce ECSS-compliant project documentation (e.g., Thermal Control Design, Thermal Analysis Reports, TMM Description)
• Correlate simulation models with test results

Requirements

• Technical degree in engineering (preferred: mechanics, technical physics, aerospace engineering)
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience conducting thermal analyses in the space sector (or related)
• Good working knowledge of ESATAN-TMS and Thermal Desktop
• Knowledge of SINDA/FLUINT or similar tools
• Very good understanding of heat transfer processes in the space environment
• Knowledge of ECSS standards and space-industry design processes
• Teamwork and effective technical communication
• English proficiency at least B2
