70,000 - 100,000 EUR/yr

Munich, Germany

Quick Facts

  • Embedded real-time software engineering role supporting on-board and on-ground processing chains for digital payloads (telecom, navigation, RF sensing)
  • ECSS-compliant software development, integration, verification, and validation
  • Works with embedded/resource-limited systems and bare-metal targets

Description

You will develop and deliver embedded real-time software for payload processing, from translating system requirements into detailed software requirements to integration, testing, and documentation in accordance with ECSS standards. The work includes real-time task scheduling, I/O and mode management, hardware/software interface design, and debugging with JTAG and gdb. You will collaborate across disciplines (e.g., simulator and database domains) and contribute to efficiency and industrialization improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Transform SSS into SRS
  • Analyze embedded and real-time implementation constraints (memory size, CPU load, deadlines)
  • Design software (task scheduling, I/O, functional algorithms, software mode management)
  • Design hardware/software interfaces (I/O, interrupts, timing)
  • Implement software requirements through coding
  • Integrate and debug hardware/software using tools such as JTAG and gdb
  • Support verification activities (coding rules, metrics, code coverage)
  • Execute software validation activities (unit and functional testing)
  • Control the configuration of software and validation elements
  • Generate software documentation in accordance with the ECSS process
  • Work across disciplines with other functional domains (Simulator/FVI and Database/DB)
  • Support schedule and cost control for software development
  • Analyze the requirements baseline from System Engineering through the Software Architect and define software functional behavior
  • Define embedded software architecture (static and dynamic)
  • Implement the functionalities specified in the requirements baseline
  • Execute hardware/software integration and functional qualification before integration into Payload AIT
  • Carry out activities in accordance with external and internal software process standards (including ECSS-E-ST-40C and ECSS-Q-ST-80C)
  • Drive internal efficiency improvements, productivity, processes, and industrialization topics
