Description

Support IT administration for schools by operating and advancing the city’s LAN and WLAN infrastructure for school sites. You will install and configure network hardware (firewalls, switches, access points), participate in system administration and system integration across 23 schools, and provide first- and second-level support for hardware and software.

Continuously improve the environment using modern networking standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer and operationally develop the LAN and WLAN infrastructure at the schools of the City of Bayreuth

• Install and configure active network components such as firewalls, switches, and access points

• Support system administration and system integration at 23 schools

• Install and configure hardware for school use

• Perform repair and maintenance for hardware and software in first- and second-level support, and coordinate with external service providers

• Continuously improve based on modern network standards

Requirements

• Completed degree as a state-certified technician in Computer Science or completed IT vocational training with several years of experience (e.g., IT specialist for system integration)

• Experience in network planning and administration (LAN, VLAN, WLAN)

• Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments

• Experience supporting IT systems, ideally in the school sector

• High level of initiative and analytical thinking

• Ability to handle conflicts, make decisions, enforce them, and strong customer/service orientation

• Driver’s license class B (or equivalent)
