QA & Test Automation Engineer (mid to senior)

Description

You will lead QA and own the quality of client e-commerce shops. The role combines manual and automated testing, with AI agents assisting you to generate, analyze, and improve tests—while you still perform critical manual product checks before release. You will validate acceptance criteria in Jira, write end-to-end tests (primarily with Playwright), and verify Shopify changes end-to-end including integrations.

Responsibilities

• Test each task manually and automatically
• Validate acceptance criteria in Jira and investigate what the change could break
• Write and maintain Playwright end-to-end test suites based on acceptance criteria
• Coordinate AI agents to generate tests and analyze failures; review and fix their output
• Perform release checks by comparing live e-shops with new versions on desktop and mobile, and prepare client acceptance scenarios
• Prepare test data for Shopify development shops (products, roles, settings) and log real defects into Jira
• Test data flow between Shopify and connected systems (ERP and others such as orders, inventory, prices, customer accounts)

Requirements

• 3+ years in software testing
• 2+ years writing automated tests
• Strong QA fundamentals: exploratory testing, boundary values, and risk-based prioritization; know when manual testing is better than automation (ISTQB is a plus)
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritize under release deadlines (including stopping an unready release)
• Experience planning tests beyond “happy paths” (edge cases, sold-out products, wrong roles, narrow mobile views)
• Playwright with JavaScript/TypeScript; ability to build and maintain end-to-end suites
• Experience with Git and using pull requests
• Ability to diagnose flaky tests (timing, network, or data) and fix the root cause
• Responsive/visual testing experience (screenshots and mobile widths ~360–412px on real devices and major browsers)
• Clear, actionable Jira bug reports (steps, expected vs actual, evidence) and ability to explain to non-technical stakeholders
• Daily English communication ability (Czech/Slovak is a plus)
• Experience with AI-assisted testing and with Shopify from practice (variants, cart, discounts, customer accounts, B2B pricing); familiarity with Liquid and Shopify limits; Shopify CLI or Admin API is a plus
