Description

The role is to hold a Computer Science professorship supporting the dual study program Digital Administration and Cyber Security (DACS). You will teach, independently prepare and conduct courses and examinations, and shape instruction didactically, ideally in one of the program’s cyber-security or administration-related focus areas. In addition, you will conduct application-oriented interdisciplinary research relevant to federal administration and collaborate closely with federal authorities.

Responsibilities

• Represent Computer Science within DACS, ideally in areas such as Cyber Security, Forensics, Networking/Network Security, or Operating Systems/Operating System Security
• Independently prepare, deliver, and didactically design courses including examinations
• Teach core Computer Science fundamentals and, as needed, represent your subjects in other programs within the central teaching unit
• Provide professional supervision for guest lecturers and develop teaching materials for their contributions
• Pursue regular publications and participate in application-oriented interdisciplinary research
• Engage in collaboration with federal authorities, including regular practice stays

Requirements

• Master’s-level degree preferably in Computer Science or a comparable field (e.g., Business Informatics, Mathematics, Physics) with IT focus
• Pedagogical qualification demonstrated through teaching or training experience
• Demonstrated aptitude for academic work, typically supported by a PhD
• Special achievements applying or developing scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice, including at least three years outside the higher-education sector
• Relevant professional experience enabling you to teach at least one subject within the application focus
• Willingness for application-oriented and interdisciplinary research relevant to federal administration, plus regular publications
• Willingness to participate in the higher-education teaching program Prof(essionell)
• Willingness for intensive collaboration with federal authorities and regular practice visits
• Willingness to professionally support lecturers and develop teaching materials
• Experience with E-Learning/Distance Learning or willingness to acquire and further develop it
• High social competence and effective communication with other teaching staff and university members
• Willingness to help develop the university and engage in self-governance
• Willingness to deliver courses as needed during business trips, including in the Berlin area
• Long-term relevant public administration experience is especially advantageous
• For foreign educational degrees: equivalence proof with a German degree is required (translations alone are not sufficient)
