Description

Architect-in-Residence supports early-stage, partner-backed startups by accelerating product development, AI adoption, and go-to-market readiness on Microsoft’s Cloud and AI stack. You deliver architecture reviews, demos, and workshops, then help founders remove technical and adoption blockers to drive Azure consumption and sustained growth. The role coordinates with Microsoft product, engineering, support, and sales teams to translate startup engagement into long-term Azure adoption and partner relationships.

Responsibilities

• Translate startup needs and feedback into solutions that accelerate adoption and improve satisfaction.

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor and advocate for startups within Microsoft; coordinate teams to resolve challenges and guide decisions.

• Deliver architecture reviews, demonstrations, and workshops to accelerate startup product development.

• Build and share technical expertise to strengthen solution quality and team capability.

• Drive Azure consumption by removing adoption blockers and identifying growth opportunities using data-driven insights.

• Optimize startup architecture and performance using Microsoft best practices.

• Reduce delivery risks through governance, quality assurance, and milestone management.

• Demonstrate Microsoft’s differentiated value to support startup technology decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND 4+ years experience in technical program/product management, coding, and/or software development/delivery work; OR equivalent experience.

• 3+ years of customer-facing experience.

• Preferred: experience working with startups or high-growth/fast-moving customers.

• Preferred: experience providing technical advisory or cloud solution architecture directly to customers (Azure or similar cloud technologies).

• Preferred: experience influencing technical decision-makers and building trusted-advisor relationships.

Benefits

• Competitive base pay range in the U.S.: USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year (typical); New York City metro: USD $160,200 – $261,000 per year.
