Description

Extend Flutter’s Android platform capabilities to add multi-view and windowing support. You’ll work on Flutter internals and the engine layer to leverage emerging Android windowing APIs across mobile, desktop, and XR. You will collaborate with internal teams and the open-source community to evolve Flutter’s single-view model into a robust multi-view architecture.

Responsibilities

• Implement multi-view and windowing support in Flutter’s Android embedding layer

• Extend the platform to handle multiple simultaneous views across devices and environments

• Incorporate community designs such as multi-view-on-android-ios into Flutter’s Android codebase

• Integrate emerging Android Windowing APIs for different device categories (e.g., Multi-Instance Intents, Window composables, Android XR orbiters)

• Collaborate with Flutter engine maintainers and Google’s open-source community

• Ensure stable integration across Flutter engine components and plugins

• Conduct rigorous testing and performance optimization for new windowing functionality

• Contribute to architecture documentation and engineering proposals for long-term maintainability

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Flutter internals and engine-level development

• Deep understanding of Android platform architecture, lifecycle, and native APIs

• Knowledge of Java/Kotlin and familiarity with C++ code interfacing in Flutter’s engine

• Experience implementing multi-window or multi-instance features on Android

• Proficiency in performance profiling, debugging, and rendering optimizations in Flutter apps

• Familiarity with open-source collaboration and Git

• Fluent English communication skills (B2 or higher)
