Description

Own and improve core analytical models by reverse-engineering existing R algorithms, running rigorous statistical analysis, and building new predictive features. Refactor legacy R code into production-ready frameworks and modernize functionality so models scale with growing data. Work cross-functionally with Data Engineering to deploy models and translate statistical outputs into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, deconstruct, and map existing statistical models/algorithms written in R

• Conduct deep statistical testing to improve accuracy, performance, and efficiency

• Design and implement solutions to modernize and enhance existing functionality

• Conceptualize, build, and deploy new analytical features and models from scratch

• Refactor and upgrade R code into robust, production-ready frameworks

• Champion best practices for version control, code documentation, and automated testing

• Collaborate with Data Engineering on model deployment

• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on professional experience in data science, statistical modeling, or quantitative research

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative discipline

• Expert-level proficiency in R (comfortable with tidyverse, data.table, and advanced statistical/modeling packages)

• Deep practical knowledge of applied statistics (e.g., hypothesis testing, linear/logistic regression, time-series analysis, mixed-effects models, Bayesian methods)

• Proven track record auditing existing codebases, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing measurable enhancements

• Exceptional ability to document complex algorithms and explain highly technical concepts to executive leadership
