Description

Design, develop, and deploy distributed Python backend platform capabilities for hosting and serving AI models in a restricted Azure Greenfield environment. Build an API to let users query deployed models, and standardize model deployment using MLflow wrappers. Implement CI/CD best practices with GitLab to ensure code quality, testing, and deployment automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend platform capabilities

• Design a REST API for querying models by users

• Use Azure Databricks to host and deploy models

• Establish model deployment guidelines, including MLflow wrapping and API design

• Implement CI/CD best practices using GitLab (quality, testing, automated deployment)

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5+ engineers

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering experience

• At least 2+ years in a leadership role

• Strong Python expertise and experience with multithreading, async, REST APIs, exception handling, and Pydantic

• Strong Azure experience: Azure Databricks, Azure App Service, and IAM/RBAC

• Proficiency with CI/CD workflows, GitLab version control, and DevOps practices

• Experience with containerization and orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes

• Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, agile environment

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
