Description

You will design, develop, and deploy distributed Python backend platform capabilities in a restricted Azure greenfield environment for hosting models. Build an API that enables users to query models, leveraging Azure Databricks for hosting and deployment. Establish model deployment processes and implement CI/CD best practices using GitLab.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of backend platform capabilities in a restricted Azure greenfield environment

• Design REST API for querying deployed models by users

• Use Azure Databricks to host and deploy models

• Define processes and guidelines for model deployment, including MLflow wrapper usage and API design

• Implement CI/CD best practices using GitLab, ensuring code quality, testing, and deployment automation

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5+ engineers

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role

• Expertise in Python and core data engineering libraries (multithreading, async, REST API, exceptions, Pydantic)

• Strong Azure experience (Azure Databricks, Azure App Service, IAM/RBAC)

• Proficiency with CI/CD workflows and version control using GitLab, plus DevOps practices

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes

• Strong problem-solving skills in an agile, fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
