Crypto Backend Engineer

Mid • Hybrid • On-site

Prague, Czechia

Quick Facts

  • Role: Crypto Backend Engineer

Description

You will build and improve the infrastructure connecting Trezor Suite to blockchain networks and crypto data services, supporting account discovery, transaction history, fee estimation, token metadata, and transaction broadcasting.

You’ll create backend services that remain reliable even when blockchain nodes, RPC providers, or third-party APIs fail—owning your work end to end, influencing architecture, and driving observability and reliability.

You don’t need to know every supported blockchain on day one; you should be able to learn unfamiliar systems, understand failure behavior, and turn it into production-ready software.

Responsibilities

  • Build reliable blockchain connectivity with nodes, RPC providers, explorers, and indexers across UTXO and account-based networks

  • Maintain and develop Blockbook, an open-source blockchain indexer used by major RPC providers

  • Develop services for fiat rates, token and coin metadata, fees, and other crypto data used in Trezor Suite

  • Integrate and evaluate third-party providers (e.g., QuickNode) with caching, fallback, and routing strategies

  • Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, request optimization, and incident detection

  • Contribute to architecture decisions, reviews, and infrastructure planning

  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and product engineering to operate dependable and secure services

Requirements

  • Production experience building backend services in TypeScript/Node.js or Go

  • Experience designing, operating, and debugging APIs or distributed services

  • Solid knowledge of SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and practical data modeling

  • Ability to investigate failures across application, network, database, and third-party boundaries

  • Understanding of production observability: metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make pragmatic technical decisions

  • Good written and spoken English

Benefits

  • Security-first, open-source environment with transparency, trust, and security-focused culture

  • High ownership and freedom to influence architecture and reliability

  • Option to get paid in bitcoin

  • Flexible working hours

  • Budget for professional development (training programs, courses, workshops)

  • Friendly, open culture with regular company events

  • Renovated offices with amenities (gym, games, 3D printer, free on-site parking)

  • Additional benefits such as MultiSport card, company mobile tariff, massages, yoga, fitness classes, and more
