Description

Ameren Illinois is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Crisis Management Information & Technology Intern to support the Crisis Management team in enhancing situational awareness, operational readiness, emergency preparedness, and information management initiatives. The internship provides hands-on experience with crisis management systems, operational information, historical event records, SharePoint, Microsoft 365 applications, dashboards, and emerging technologies used for incident response, business continuity, restoration efforts, and Incident Management Team (IMT) operations. The intern will help organize and maintain historical crisis management data, support dashboard enhancements, improve information accessibility, and contribute to ongoing development of the Crisis Management Dashboard and Athena AI platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, validate, and maintain crisis management information from internal and external sources
  • Research and compile historical storm, outage, weather, restoration, and emergency response records for dashboards and situational awareness tools
  • Support migration and organization of historical information into SharePoint, dashboards, and approved repositories
  • Maintain and enhance the Crisis Management Dashboard and Athena AI platform
  • Develop and update reports, dashboards, resource libraries, and situational awareness products
  • Maintain SharePoint lists, document libraries, Microsoft 365 applications, and approved information management systems
  • Create and maintain reference materials, standard operating procedures, workflows, and documentation
  • Monitor operational information and prepare materials used during IMT activations and emergency events
  • Support after-action reviews, lessons learned initiatives, and continuous improvement projects
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across operations, emergency preparedness, business continuity, and communications functions
  • Ensure information accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality per company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Emergency Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, Data Management, Engineering, Meteorology, Communications, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive operational information with professionalism and discretion
  • Willingness to learn emerging technologies and continuously improve analytical capabilities
