Description

Lead the strategy and execution of AI-driven platform tools that transform how software engineers build, test, and deploy code. Build an internal AI ecosystem—using LLM coding assistants, automated code review agents, and AI-enabled pipeline workflows—to remove developer friction and measurably boost engineering velocity.

Key Responsibilities

AI Developer Tooling Strategy

• Define and drive the vision for AI-infused internal developer tools, including LLM code-generation assistants, intelligent CI/CD diagnostic agents, automated code migration tooling, and dynamic documentation systems.

• Use Developer Experience KPIs (Core 4, DORA & SPACE) to introduce AI initiatives that increase overall engineering output.

Team Leadership & Platform Delivery

• Lead, recruit, and mentor a team of Machine Learning/AI Engineers, working closely with Platform Engineers and DevEx Engineers.

• Integrate AI tools into developer IDEs, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Oversee architecture of code indexing, vector databases, and RAG pipelines feeding repository context securely into internal LLMs.

Governance, Security & Adoption

• Implement AI-based solution guardrails for IP protection, secret scanning, license compliance, and secure code generation.

• Drive adoption across engineering teams with training, hackathons, and best practices to become an AI-augmented developer.

Requirements and Qualifications

Technical Expertise

• 3+ years integrating generative AI, code-trained LLMs, or agentic frameworks into practical developer workflows.

• 8+ years core software engineering experience, with background in DevEx, internal developer platforms (IDP), or CI/CD infrastructure.

• Deep familiarity with modern IDEs, AI code assist, AI code scanning tools, and AI solutions for test harness and code review.

• Solid understanding of vector search engines, embedding models for code representation, and LLM fine-tuning techniques.

Leadership & Soft Skills

• 5+ years managing engineering teams at Engineering Manager, Senior Manager, or Director level; focus on platform engineering or internal tooling.

• Passion for developer productivity and eliminating operational friction.

• Data-driven approach using metrics to measure productivity gains and cost efficiency without compromising code quality or developer well-being.

Benefits

• Target salary range: 227,800 - 338,800 USD (final offer depends on location, qualifications, experience, and education).
