Description

The role focuses on Physical AI, building advanced autonomy algorithms that add rich semantics to large-scale driving data. You will set the technical direction for algorithm development and implementation to enable better data mining, deep scene understanding, and causal modeling of ego-vehicle behavior in complex environments. You will identify next-generation AV challenges, design architectural foundations, and raise the bar for technical excellence across the engineering organization.

What The Candidate Will Do

• Set the technical roadmap and lead delivery of state-of-the-art Machine Learning systems

  • Algorithm Development: Lead autonomy algorithm strategy to extract high-fidelity semantic meaning from complex urban edge cases to enrich an L4 data lake

  • Architecture & System Design: Architect complex onboard systems, including management of upstream sensor dependencies and evaluation metrics

  • Technical Mentorship & Influence: Mentor senior and lead engineers; influence technical direction across multiple teams through rigorous experimentation and engineering excellence

  • Platform Evolution: Define requirements for high-quality large evaluation datasets and objective metrics to evaluate system performance

  • Cross-Organizational Leadership: Act as a bridge to ensure autonomous technology integration and deployment at scale

Requirements

• 8+ years of working experience in the Robotics or Autonomous Systems industry

• Proven experience leading large-scale technical projects from conception to production

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields

• Expert-level proficiency in Python and Linux environments

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Vision, Game Theory, Robotics, or Machine Learning with a focus on Autonomous Driving

• Extensive experience with C++, CUDA, and high-performance system optimization

• Deep understanding of Robot Operating System (ROS) or similar autonomous middleware

Compensation

Base salary range (Sunnyvale, CA-based roles): USD $232,000/year to USD $258,000/year.
