Description

The QA engineer is a practitioner and an advocate of quality-focused software delivery practices, ensuring high quality of software products and services using an appropriate toolkit of technologies and methods, with a DevSecOps mindset. Working in an agile environment, the Quality Engineer ensures high quality releases by designing, executing, and improving manual testing processes, covering functional, integration, UI/UX, and exploratory testing.

Mission

• Be part of a cross-functional agile team or practice team that promotes quality assurance best practices across the domain
• Deliver solutions that meet customer needs and support end-to-end quality of applications, from concept to release
• Take responsibility for product quality by designing, executing, and improving manual testing processes, with attention to detail, documentation, and security aspects
• Collaborate on defining and executing test strategies with thorough manual test coverage at functional, integration, and exploratory levels
• Ensure availability and relevance of test data and identify where manual testing is most effective
• Help define quality measures for areas where automation has limitations
• Share QA expertise to foster continuous improvement and a quality-first mindset
• Partner with Product Owners to ensure requirements are clear, testable, and aligned with quality expectations
• Support improvement opportunities and elevate testing standards, tools, and practices
• Contribute to discussions on process enhancements, tool evaluation, and QA initiatives across teams and domains

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to define, refine, and implement QA strategies and testing best practices
• Design and execute comprehensive manual test cases for functional, integration, UI/UX, and regression testing
• Perform end-to-end testing of web and mobile applications (iOS, Android, Hybrid)
• Analyze requirements and user stories to create test scenarios and ensure clear, testable feature specifications
• Participate in grooming and planning sessions to advocate for quality and contribute to testing estimates
• Detect, document, and track software defects with developers and product teams
• Ensure proper test data setup and manage exploratory testing when automation is not applicable
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, test documentation, and knowledge sharing
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders in English (and German, where required)

Requirements

• Solid hands-on experience in manual software testing in agile development environments
• Proven ability to design, document, and execute test plans and test cases based on business and technical requirements
• Familiarity with testing REST APIs using tools like Postman or Swagger
• Understanding of QA methodologies, defect lifecycle, and agile software delivery principles (Scrum/Kanban)
• Experience with cross-platform testing on web and mobile applications
• Upper-intermediate or higher level of spoken and written English
• Upper-intermediate or higher level of spoken and written German

Nice to have

• Exposure to or basic understanding of test automation concepts and tools such as Appium, Cucumber, RestAssured, or JMeter
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Charles Proxy, Android Studio, or Xcode
• Familiarity with BDD/TDD practices and collaboration in projects using them
• Interest in growing into test automation over time
