Description

We are looking for an experienced Governance & Taxonomy Lead to join a long-term Data & Analytics programme within a large international organization. This role combines data governance, taxonomy and data quality expertise with strong stakeholder management and delivery coordination. You will be responsible for translating existing strategies and requirements into practical governance standards and ways of working, supporting data solutions from prototype and validation through to controlled production.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement a federated Data Governance model, including decision rights, ownership, stewardship, approvals and exception management.

  • Consolidate existing materials into a consistent, version-controlled Global Taxonomy V1 for priority data domains.

  • Define and align entities, terminology, keys, KPIs and business definitions across relevant teams.

  • Develop a pragmatic Data Quality Framework and apply data-quality rules to active use cases.

  • Work closely with Product Owners, Domain Data Owners, architecture teams and business and technology stakeholders.

  • Lead stakeholder discussions and workshops and support key governance decisions.

  • Coordinate ongoing activities, ensuring timelines, KPIs, risks, dependencies and escalations are effectively managed.

  • Resolve conflicts around definitions, ownership and data standards.

  • Develop repeatable governance practices and support knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Key deliverables

  • Governance Charter, RACI and decision-rights model.

  • Defined ownership and stewardship for priority data domains.

  • Global Taxonomy V1, including mappings and a backlog of identified gaps.

  • Data Quality Framework, decision log and exception register.

  • Handover approach enabling internal teams to maintain and further develop governance and taxonomy standards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience across Data Governance, Taxonomy, Metadata Management and/or Data Quality.

  • Hands-on experience implementing federated data governance within a large and complex organization.

  • Strong experience with business glossaries, taxonomy mapping, data ownership and stewardship.

  • Ability to translate high-level strategy and requirements into practical standards, processes and ways of working.

  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills, including collaboration with senior stakeholders across business, product, data and technology.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, manage risks and dependencies, and drive activities through to completion.

  • Very good command of English.
