The opportunity

We're hiring an Automation Engineer to join a large-scale IT operations programme for a major EU agency. This is a fully on-site role at the agency's headquarters in Warsaw, with no travel foreseen.

The role sits within a highly regulated environment and requires a Personal Security Clearance (level to be confirmed at contracting stage).

The role

You'll design, build, and maintain the automation that keeps IT operations running—provisioning, configuration, monitoring, deployment, and incident response—across virtualization, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure, while helping the wider organisation move from manual processes to automated, repeatable ones.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated systems and tools supporting IT operations: infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, deployment, and incident response across VMware, Azure/AWS/Google Cloud, Windows Server, and Linux Red Hat.
  • Analyse existing IT processes and workflows, identify areas for improvement, and propose and develop automation strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance scalability.
  • Write scripts and develop code using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate routine tasks, data processing, and system integration.
  • Use configuration-management tools, such as Ansible, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks, such as Terraform and VMware ARIA Automation, to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure components.
  • Recommend and implement IT best practices.
  • Implement changes according to ICT change-management procedures.
  • Provide 2nd-line support to other IT teams and coordinate with 3rd-line support.
  • Update technical documentation and operating procedures.
  • Evaluate and implement IT security standards.
  • Participate in coordination and project meetings.
  • Take on other specific duties aligned to the profile, as assigned by the supervisor.

What you bring

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Experience with configuration-management tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience with infrastructure-automation tools such as Terraform or VMware ARIA Automation.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms, such as VMware vSphere, and cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux Red Hat configuration and automation.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple support groups.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and ITIL-based change, configuration, and release-management processes.
  • Good organisational and prioritising skills.
  • A proactive attitude, teamwork spirit, self-motivation, and strong user orientation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to cope with fast-changing technologies.

Logistics

  • Location: Warsaw, Poland — fully on-site.
  • Engagement: Framework contract via Specific Contract, with renewal terms per the framework.
  • Clearance: Personal Security Clearance required.
  • Selection process: Written test and interview.
