Senior DevOps Engineer (Automation / Scripting)

The role is part of the FA Modernization Team and focuses on developing a solution that streamlines and automates the delivery of vulnerability fixes for commonly used software libraries.

This is not a typical infrastructure-focused DevOps role. It requires a strong scripting and automation background and comfort working with CI/CD pipelines, Java ecosystem tooling, and API integrations. The project combines DevOps practices with software development and automation, including building scripts and plugins, managing dependencies, and improving the delivery of security-related fixes across the environment.

The role requires independently designing and implementing automation solutions, understanding software delivery processes, and working with Bash or Python, Java plugins, Maven/Gradle, and Jenkins.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions that automate and streamline the delivery of vulnerability fixes for commonly used libraries
  • Create automation and scripting solutions using Bash and/or Python
  • Develop and maintain Java plugins
  • Build and maintain Jenkins pipelines
  • Support dependency management using Maven or Gradle
  • Integrate internal and external services through APIs
  • Develop automation around software delivery and modernization processes
  • Work with Git and established branching strategies
  • Support integration between development, CI/CD, and repository management tools
  • Analyse existing delivery processes and identify opportunities for further automation
  • Collaborate with FA Modernization Team members to develop and improve the solution

Requirements

  • Strong scripting experience, preferably with Bash or Python
  • Experience developing Java plugins
  • Practical experience with dependency management using Maven or Gradle
  • Good experience with Jenkins pipelines
  • Experience integrating systems and services through APIs
  • Very good knowledge of Git and branching strategies
  • Ability to independently develop and improve automation solutions
  • Good understanding of CI/CD and software delivery processes
  • English at a minimum B2 level

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Jira API and Bitbucket API
  • Experience with Jenkins API
  • Knowledge of Sonatype Nexus Repository
  • Experience with OpenShift
  • Experience working with RHEL
