Backend Engineer (with AI project experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Engineer who enjoys exploring new technical approaches but is equally motivated by turning ideas into production-ready solutions.

You will investigate and apply AI and machine learning techniques to complex hospitality data, while remaining focused on practical outcomes. The role will suit someone who gets satisfaction from seeing their work used by real customers—not solely from conducting research or experimenting with models.

Responsibilities

• Research, design and implement AI/ML solutions addressing complex hospitality and travel data challenges.
• Explore different technical approaches, run experiments and evaluate results to identify the most suitable solutions.
• Build prototypes and transform successful approaches into reliable, production-ready features.
• Develop Python-based solutions for data processing, machine learning workflows and AI-powered applications.
• Work closely with engineering and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing systems.
• Define evaluation methods and metrics to measure the quality, accuracy and impact of AI solutions.
• Investigate new AI/ML techniques and assess their practical application in real-world products.
• Take ownership of AI initiatives from initial research through implementation and deployment.
• Continuously improve existing solutions by analysing performance, user feedback and production results.
• Contribute to building scalable AI-driven features that deliver value to customers and business users.

Requirements

• Commercial experience applying AI or machine learning techniques to real-world products or data problems.
• Professional experience with Python.
• Ability to research possible approaches, test them and select solutions based on evidence.
• Experience taking experimental or prototype solutions towards production.
• Understanding of how to evaluate AI-based solutions.
• Motivation to build solutions that will be used in a live product.

Highly Valued

• Some experience with JavaScript, as other parts of the platform use it.
• Previous experience in travel technology, hospitality, marketplaces or booking platforms.
