Windows Expert / Windows Platform Engineer (f/m)

We are looking for an experienced Windows Expert / Windows Platform Engineer to join a technology team responsible for the development, automation, and maintenance of the Windows Server platform.

This role combines deep Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure expertise with modern automation, CI/CD, and hybrid cloud technologies. We are looking for someone who can not only administer Windows environments but also automate processes, solve complex infrastructure challenges, and support cloud migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automation processes using PowerShell and CI/CD technologies.
  • Design and implement Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and security baselines.
  • Act as the Windows OS specialist, with a strong understanding of the surrounding infrastructure, including networking, storage, virtualization, and Active Directory.
  • Support the automated creation and deployment of new Windows OS images.
  • Support and advise on on-premises-to-cloud migrations, particularly Azure/GCP.
  • Manage and develop Active Directory, including domain structures, replication, access control, and policy deployment.
  • Configure and troubleshoot core network services, including DNS, DHCP, and IP routing.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and system administration support for Windows environments.
  • Support Disaster Recovery, backup, failover clustering, and Business Continuity solutions.
  • Work closely with the Platform Owner and Scrum team on the engineering backlog.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation for end users, engineers, and architects.
  • Identify opportunities for platform improvements and automation.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with PowerShell and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server, particularly Windows Server 2019, 2022, and/or 2025.
  • Extensive experience with SCCM / Microsoft Configuration Manager (MECM).
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy (GPO).
  • Practical experience with DNS, DHCP, and IP routing.
  • Experience with virtualization and enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD-related tools and processes.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and at least one cloud platform, preferably Azure or GCP.
  • Advanced Windows troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of backup, Disaster Recovery, failover clustering, and Business Continuity concepts.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and with Jira.
  • Ability to create clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2025.
  • Microsoft certifications related to Windows Server technologies.
  • Knowledge of Linux.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting/programming languages.
  • Experience with AI-based automation or self-healing infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience automating infrastructure deployments and cloud migrations.
