Middleware Operation Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Middleware Operations Engineer to support the run and maintenance activities of middleware platforms. The role focuses on ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of core components such as web servers, Apache Tomcat, and IBM WebSphere Application Server across both on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in middleware operations, combined with DevOps practices and automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support daily run operations for middleware platforms:
  • Apache HTTP Server
  • Apache Tomcat
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
• Monitor system availability, performance, and capacity, ensuring SLAs are met
• Perform incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Execute change management and release activities in controlled environments
• Maintain and update middleware configurations and deployments
• Support patching, upgrades, and security compliance activities
• Automate operational tasks using DevOps tools

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, with a strong focus on middleware support and operations
• Proven hands-on experience with Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, and IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
• Strong knowledge of middleware architecture, application server concepts, and Linux/Unix environments
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work in 24/7 support environments, if required
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Proactive attitude and ownership mindset

Cloud & Infrastructure Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms: Azure and GCP
• Familiarity with networking concepts, load balancing, and security principles

DevOps & Automation

• Ansible: configuration management and automation
• Jenkins: CI/CD pipelines and job management
• Good understanding of DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles

Nice to Have

• Experience with Red Hat JBoss / WildFly
• Experience with Oracle WebLogic
• Experience with containerization: Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of monitoring tools, such as Dynatrace and Grafana
• Scripting skills, such as Shell and Python
