Description

This role develops the new SDO Controller Web UI and Mosaic Network Controller Web UI applications used by network operators to manage networks built on Optical Transport devices. The engineer will design, develop, and continuously improve products using modern technologies and agile practices, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to meet customer needs.

The role is the first full-stack engineer on the team and the sole engineer responsible for GUI development.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop front-end and selected back-end features for the SDO Controller and Mosaic Network Controller products.
  • Design and implement new product features using React, Java, and Spring technologies.
  • Design or assist with designing new SDO Controller features.
  • Develop enhancements for existing software.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies for required software development.
  • Document designs, including feature definitions and architecture.
  • Participate in design reviews and code reviews.
  • Develop unit and component-level tests for implemented modules and enhancements.
  • Coordinate development activities across teams while meeting project schedules.
  • Fix software bugs found during all testing phases.
  • Deploy and test incremental software releases with the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Information Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience as a Front-end or Full-stack Developer.
  • Strong computer science foundation, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering.
  • At least 2 years of experience developing React-based applications.
  • Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Experience with React test frameworks, such as Jest.
  • Experience developing UI components using Storybook and collaborating with UX designers using Figma or equivalent tools.
  • Good knowledge of Java 8+; the project uses Java 25.
  • Knowledge of software construction techniques.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design principles and design patterns.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems.
  • Experience with JUnit.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
  • Excellent teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with version control systems, including Git.
  • At least B1 English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing and deploying large-scale interactive React-based applications.
  • Experience with testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, and Selenium.
  • Strong focus on code quality.
