Backend (Node.js) Developer

Description

Develop and maintain backend services and shared libraries for a web and mobile gaming platform. Work with experienced backend developers on complex functional and architectural problems, with direct impact on product direction and development processes.

What you will do

• Work with a senior team member to understand functional and technical requirements
• Develop new platform services or extend existing services and shared libraries
• Maintain high code quality by covering code with automated tests
• Participate in platform deployment and maintenance
• Participate in and learn from code reviews
• Work in an agile team environment

What we expect from you

• 5+ years of development experience on the Node.js platform, preferably with TypeScript
• Proven record of building and integrating REST APIs using Express.js, Fastify, axios or fetch
• Practical experience covering complex, distributed functionality with automated Jest tests
• Experience building complex solutions with MongoDB
• Cloud development experience with leading providers, preferably GCP
• Good practical knowledge of Linux and system monitoring/debugging tools
• Practical Git version-control experience
• Knowledge of Software Design Patterns and functional programming
• Troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal English communication skills

What will help you excel

• Degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a similar qualification
• Frontend development knowledge using React
• Familiarity with Jenkins Pipeline or similar CI/CD tools
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Curiosity, a willingness to question, and a passion for improving systems
• Customer focus, assertiveness, organisation and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a distributed team, collaborate effectively and guide junior engineers
