The job at a glance

Join the Data Platform team as a key technical contributor, designing, building and maintaining scalable, reliable and well-governed data platform capabilities that support analytics, AI and business-critical products.

Work closely with Staff and Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers and Product Managers. Take ownership of significant platform components, drive technical quality within the squad and help develop the engineering capability of colleagues.

This is a hands-on role focused on writing code, designing systems, reviewing peers’ work and solving complex engineering challenges.

Your responsibilities

  • Design, build and own key Data Platform components; make sound architectural decisions and deliver scalable, production-ready solutions.
  • Write clean, well-tested and observable code; drive engineering standards, best practices and reusable patterns across the team.
  • Ensure quality, reliability and performance through code reviews, testing, monitoring and proactive technical-debt management.
  • Own technical delivery end-to-end; collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to planning and risk management, and mentor less experienced engineers through knowledge sharing.
  • Leverage and promote AI-assisted development tools and engineering automation practices to improve productivity, code quality and team efficiency.

Your skills and qualifications

  • Proven Senior Engineer (or equivalent) experience, with a strong track record in data platform or platform engineering and end-to-end delivery of complex solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with Product, Analytics and Infrastructure teams while driving engineering quality, reliability and delivery excellence.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud and infrastructure technologies, particularly AWS and Terraform.
  • Strong expertise in modern data platforms and processing technologies, including Kafka/Amazon MSK, Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, Apache Spark, Data Lakes, Lakehouse architectures and Apache Iceberg.
  • Knowledge of data quality, governance, cataloguing, observability (e.g. Datadog), batch and streaming processing; DBT is a plus.
