AI and Systems Integrations Lead

About the opportunity

Join as an AI and Systems Integrations Lead to design cross-system integration architecture and pioneer AI use across the business.

Fully remote work with a competitive salary of up to £4,900 per month, plus an annual discretionary bonus of up to 5% of the annual fee. The offer includes 23 days of paid annual leave in addition to all Polish public holidays.

The digital ecosystem includes proprietary platforms, SaaS tools, and media products supporting events and content businesses. The role takes ownership of integrations between key systems, including NetSuite, HubSpot, Bizzabo, and the proprietary attendee app, SBC Connect.

As the first specialist and process owner in this area, you will define integration standards, map data flows, and build AI capabilities from scratch. Initially, you will operate as a solo lead reporting to the CTO with support from the development team; as the systems expand, the role may grow into leading a team.

Responsibilities

Own cross-system integrations

• Act as process owner and lead technical practitioner for systems integration across the company.
• Define connection identities, contracts between systems, data-flow rules, and integration patterns consistently across the technology estate.
• Maintain an integration map covering active system-to-system connections, automated integrations, manual bridges, scheduled exports, ad-hoc scripts, and missing required connections.
• Diagnose each connection, including what works, what fails, the business cost of gaps, and criticality and fragility rankings.
• Define and maintain integration standards: API contracts, event schemas, error handling, retry and idempotency rules, data-flow observability, and rules for real-time, scheduled, or batch connections.
• Set architectural direction for direct system-to-system connections versus centralised integration tooling, documenting and revisiting choices as the estate evolves.
• Specify integration requirements for new systems before contracts are signed.

Deliver integration and AI work

• Build integrations and AI features hands-on as the primary implementer: write production code, design and implement APIs and event flows, build data transformations, write tests, instrument observability, and deploy to production.
• Lead integration and AI initiatives end-to-end: solution design, implementation, testing, rollout, and post-rollout monitoring.
• Run integration and AI initiatives through the Projects Office for visibility and capacity coordination.
• Deliver work directly, pair with developers, or specify and oversee work delivered by the development team, depending on the initiative.
• Operate the integration layer and AI features in production: monitor health, debug failing data flows in production logs, lead incident response, and feed improvements into the backlog.
• Coordinate with system owners across finance, marketing, sales, events, and other business areas on integration and AI changes.
• Share AI patterns, tools, and lessons with the Development Department, supporting developers in applying AI capabilities.

Contribute to the preparation pipeline

• Shape initiatives involving integrations or AI through solution sketching, technical-risk and dependency identification, integration test scenarios, kill criteria, and T-shirt sizing with Technical Leads and QA.
• Provide technical input to High-Level Specs where integration or AI is material, alongside the Group Product Manager and Business Stakeholders.
• Translate business intent for cross-system processes and AI-augmented workflows into deliverable requirements for development teams.

About you

You must have:

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, backed by a strong track record, ideally 4+ years, in backend development, systems architecture, or integration engineering.
• Strong hands-on coding skills in modern backend languages for integration and AI work, including production-ready scripts and data transformations.
• Deep understanding of web services, MCP servers, API contracts including REST and GraphQL, webhooks, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI APIs, such as OpenAI and Anthropic, and the ability to integrate AI tools securely and effectively into business processes.
• Experience designing resilient data flows with error handling, retry logic, idempotency, and observability across multiple platforms.
• Ability to work independently as a technical lead, debug complex production data-flow issues, and take end-to-end ownership of cross-system projects.
• Excellent English proficiency at B2/C1 level for collaboration with UK and US teams.
