Role Overview

As a Software Engineer II, you will bring growing technical depth, strong problem-solving skills, and ownership of features and components across the product. You will build scalable, reliable systems; write well-structured code; and contribute to solutions that deliver customer value. You will also improve team effectiveness through knowledge sharing, design reviews, and code reviews.

Openings are available on one of two Platform teams:

  • Identity & Access Management (IAM): Focuses on authentication, authorization, and access management so users can access only permitted resources and functionality. A key project involves Keycloak, an open-source identity and access management solution.
  • API: Owns and improves the backend API layer powering the application, with a current focus on application performance and a fast, reliable user experience.

What You Do Each Day

  • Design, develop, and test features across the application stack
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand customer problems and translate them into technical solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that delivers customer value
  • Participate in code reviews to uphold engineering quality and share knowledge
  • Deploy small, incremental production improvements with confidence and ownership
  • Improve CI/CD workflows and automated testing practices
  • Reduce friction in local development, debugging, and deployment processes
  • Use data and metrics to inform implementation decisions and measure feature impact
  • Build expertise across backend, frontend, and mobile technologies
  • Identify root causes in CI/CD job logs and resolve flaky tests

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Go, Python, Java, TypeScript, or Ruby, with a track record of high-performance delivery
  • Ability to become productive in unfamiliar stacks and work as a polyglot engineer
  • Hands-on experience reading and debugging CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Experience with at least one test framework, including investigating and fixing flaky tests
  • Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and cloud environments, such as AWS
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve workflows, streamline execution, or enhance outputs
