Signal Processing & Data Analysis Expert (Remote)

We are looking for an experienced Signal Processing & Data Analysis Expert to support the validation of advanced signal processing algorithms used in the assessment of neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease. In this role, you will work closely with engineering, clinical, and data migration teams to validate algorithm performance, investigate discrepancies in data outputs, and establish confidence in system equivalency during platform and environment transitions.

What You Will Do

• Provide signal processing expertise to engineering, migration, and clinical teams, ensuring a shared understanding of algorithm behaviour and expected outputs.
• Analyse IMU, audio, touchscreen, and other sensor datasets to identify anomalies, edge cases, and deviations.
• Investigate differences introduced by platform migrations, data pipelines, or computing environments.
• Apply statistical methods to determine whether observed discrepancies are meaningful or within acceptable tolerances.
• Deconstruct existing signal processing algorithms and create clear technical documentation supporting validation and knowledge transfer.
• Design validation frameworks, test cases, acceptance criteria, and tolerance thresholds.
• Develop and execute CSV-based comparison and reconciliation workflows for algorithm output verification.
• Classify, quantify, and document discrepancies, distinguishing numerical precision differences from genuine regressions.
• Collaborate with engineers and data migration specialists to resolve data integrity and consistency issues.
• Ensure full traceability and documentation of validation activities and findings.

Requirements

Must have

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or another quantitative discipline.
• Strong background in digital signal processing and time-series analysis.
• Advanced Python programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with NumPy, pandas, SciPy, or similar scientific computing libraries.
• Experience validating algorithms, software, or analytical models.
• Ability to define acceptance criteria, validation strategies, and tolerance thresholds.
• Experience working with large CSV or tabular datasets and building comparison workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience creating clear technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, med-tech, clinical research, or neurological disease-related projects.
• Familiarity with Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, or movement disorder analytics.
• Experience with database migration projects or platform equivalency testing.
• Knowledge of reproducible research practices and version-controlled analytical workflows.
• Experience working with high-frequency sensor data.
• Understanding of verification and validation (V&V) methodologies.
