Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineer II, you are responsible for unit electrical system designs for commercial HVAC products. Responsibilities include main unit control panel and auxiliary control panel design and layout.

Additional responsibilities include selection and qualification of electrical and electromechanical power components, electrical wiring, transformers, circuit breakers, contactors, overloads, variable frequency drives, solid-state starters, and wye-delta starters. This position generates unit electrical designs, control panel prototypes, test documentation and reports, and product documentation necessary to release unit designs to production.

Equipment responsibilities also include integrating pre-engineered devices into unit designs, including low-voltage sensors, wireless and wired interconnection devices, and HVAC control electronics.

What You Will Do

  • Become familiar with commercial chillers, rooftops, and air handler products.
  • Develop control box layout designs, wire harness routing, and transformer load calculations.
  • Develop laboratory test plans and analyze test data.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to designers, lab technicians, and other team members.
  • Administer appropriate agency and regulatory approval processes.
  • Develop and/or update electrical purchased-part engineering drawings and standards.
  • Define, identify, and complete appropriate qualification testing activities.
  • Prepare complete schedules and reports for assigned projects.
  • Achieve scheduled milestones for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate activities of other engineers or technicians assigned to projects.
  • Provide engineering support to Product Planning and Technical Support teams.
  • Support Order Fulfillment teams as needed to address safety, assembly, and quality issues.
  • Identify electrical quality and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Execute a wide variety of electrical, quality, and productivity improvement projects.
  • Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics and at least 2 years of electrical engineering work experience.
  • Basic project management skills for small-scale projects and awareness of overall project status, risks, and obstacles to progress.

Compensation

Annual base salary range: $77,963.33–$109,340.00.

Actual compensation depends on factors such as seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation. Benefits may vary based on region, business alignment, union involvement, and employee status.

This individual will work with our Machine Business Division partners across the CI and RI product lines to define and execute the enterprise strategy for Electrification. This will include working with system architects and simulation experts to define electrified powertrain architecture concepts, execute system evaluations and optimizations, and complete trade-off assessments on attributes such as performance, energy efficiency, customer Total Cost of Ownership, and R&D timeline / investment. The Lead will then work with and across Machine Business Divisions to define system requirements based on Voice of Customer, Voice of Business, and Voice of Regulation and identify nodes of opportunity for leveraged system and component development. They will support product development activities throughout the NTI and NPI program phases, providing technical leadership for concept studies, technical demonstrators, commercial demonstrators, and NPI programs.
