The Boeing Company is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager (L-Level) to lead a team of SEIT engineers in El Segundo, CA.

You will lead a high-performance SEIT team and interact with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists. The role requires providing high-impact, creative solutions to complex technical problems; working as part of a large team; and providing critical support and independent review of teammates’ work.

The successful candidate will develop and efficiently execute integrated SEIT plans and technical artifacts to enable the program to meet technical performance parameters and mission-success objectives. The position includes both functional and program-execution responsibilities and is expected to be 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.

Program Execution Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage SEIT work scope, including technical work, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Manage the IPT to drive decisions, design development, and requirements achievement for program milestones.
  • Manage IPT cost and schedule performance against the baseline plan.
  • Provide headcount variance and milestone status for weekly, monthly, and quarterly program reporting; ensure management visibility of systemic issues.
  • Address IPT-level earned value and compile and manage scope growth that deviates from the baseline.
  • Support the quarterly EAC process and review impacts with program and functional management.
  • Resolve technical issues and close action items according to schedule commitments.
  • Report program risks, identify cost-saving and schedule-reduction opportunities, and contribute to an effective work environment.
  • Interface with diverse program and customer teams.

Functional Management Responsibilities

  • Provide functional leadership for 15–20 SEIT engineers.
  • Coach, counsel, mentor, and provide employee development opportunities.
  • Perform performance management, hiring, retention, recognition, and goal-setting activities.
  • Execute critical program staffing and redeployment activities.
  • Develop and execute training and development plans.
  • Develop employee-engagement activities to motivate and engage the workforce.
  • Manage and enforce critical SEIT processes and standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance is required after starting employment.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a directly related non-U.S. equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in Space Systems and working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects and teams across multiple organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Satellite Systems Engineering Processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
