Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Principal Production Test Engineer (PTE) to join the team. This is a dynamic and visible role where you will leverage technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative skills to ensure the seamless execution of test processes in a factory environment.
Production Test Engineers are part of a manufacturing team supporting the test process through one or more phases of the product life cycle, including product development, transition to production, sustained production, and depot activities. The PTE validates and ensures compliance of prime hardware to technical data package requirements; supports program schedule and cost goals; performs troubleshooting, data analysis, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and problem-solving for test failures; and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, yields, test time, defect reduction, and test capacity.
The PTE serves as the primary authority for Test Equipment (TE), ensuring that all actions and modifications to TE are appropriate and aligned with operational requirements. The role requires understanding how TE and the prime hardware being tested function and interact. You will optimize forward and reverse test-flow processes, maintain test-related documentation and factory instructions, and help ensure rigorous testing processes and high-quality delivery to end customers.
What You Will Do
- Provide test-engineering support for manufacturing areas and interact daily with operations, quality, process/mechanical, and production control regarding urgent test needs.
- Observe, analyze, and report test data; perform tests; and use engineering drawings, manuals, and related documentation.
- Perform process, test, troubleshooting, and repair activities for digital, analog, and RF equipment.
- Disposition non-conforming material using root-cause and corrective-action analysis; support corrective-action investigations to prevent recurrence.
- Drive continuous improvement, including process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate work, and reduce direct and indirect costs using Core/Six Sigma principles and data-driven decision-making.
- Manage moderately sized projects and process changes in the test environment, leading cross-functional teams including mechanical, automation, and software engineers.
- Review system-level test data for compliance with specifications.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience related to RF test methods, troubleshooting, RF microwave product testing, engineering, or manufacturing.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Master’s degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering.
- Experience reading and interpreting drawings to perform measurements and troubleshoot electronic equipment.
- Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, including requirements, test procedures, calibration procedures, troubleshooting guides, and factory instructions.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams while maintaining budgets and schedules.
- 8+ years of experience with RF measurements, including S-parameters, Noise Figure, Third Order Intercept, Phase Error, Return Loss, Compression, Gain, Insertion Loss, and VSWR.
- 8+ years of experience using Test Equipment and hardware, including Network Analyzers, Data Acquisition (DAQ), DC Power Supplies, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power Meters, Digital Multimeters, Pulse Generators, Signal Generators, Attenuators, RF Amplifiers, Couplers, Power Dividers, and RF Switches.
