As a Mid-Level Python & API Automation Test Engineer, you will support secure, scalable identity solutions across GCP, integrating advanced automation testing with modern cloud-native applications. The role focuses on identity security, automation, and cloud technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and testing documentation aligned with technical specifications and requirements.
- Support the definition and maintenance of test entry and exit criteria for assigned components or workstreams.
- Ensure traceability of functional and non-functional requirements and maintain up-to-date evidence for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to define SIT/OAT/UAT scenarios and produce relevant test artefacts.
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve automated backend test scripts using Python and Pytest, focusing on API and integration testing.
- Validate event-driven systems such as Pub/Sub, queues, and Kafka, including replay/reprocessing scenarios and data-integrity assessments.
- Verify functions and decision logic defined as code, including policy-as-code frameworks.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline integration, ensuring automated tests are executed effectively, reports are generated, and results are communicated.
- Create and manage synthetic and anonymised test data to support repeatable automated testing.
- Track defects, participate in triage meetings, verify fixes, and regularly report progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Identify quality risks and suggest pragmatic process improvements.
- Collaborate in an Agile environment, promoting continuous enhancement of testing practices and quality standards.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of practical experience in backend automation testing with Python and Pytest.
- Solid understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts.
- Experience testing API-driven services (REST) with Postman, Insomnia, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of event-driven systems, including Pub/Sub, queues, Kafka, and batch-processing flows.
- Familiarity with identity protocols and data formats including SCIM, LDAP, OIDC, REST API, and CSV.
- Understanding of policy-based access models: RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, and PBAC.
- Experience using JIRA and Zephyr for test management and defect lifecycle.
- Exposure to CI/CD practices, pipeline automation, and cloud testing, especially GCP.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Existing legal right to work in the European Union.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with consumer-driven contract testing.
- Knowledge of policy-as-code tools such as OPA/Rego.
- Exposure to GraphDB (Neo4j), orchestration tools (n8n), and containerised testing.
- Performance testing experience with JMeter, Gatling, or NeoLoad.
- Familiarity with GitOps, HashiCorp Vault, SPIFFE/SPIRE, and governance controls.
