About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer based out of our Fort Lupton facility, you’ll be responsible for designing the next generation of pyrolysis technology, implementing and troubleshooting mechanical systems in production, and collaborating with the broader engineering team, including electrical, automation, and manufacturing engineers, as well as fabricators and technicians.

This role involves designing new mechanical systems, selecting electromechanical actuators, sensors, pumps, and continually improving pyrolysis and biomass processing equipment. You’ll help bring designs to life and develop test plans to ensure systems meet overall design intent. You will also update legacy systems to validate new design pathways and support production throughput goals through troubleshooting and corrective actions.

Someone successful in this role will enjoy bringing new designs to life, testing and commissioning equipment, and performing analytical root cause analysis in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical and electromechanical systems for next generation pyrolyzer operations
  • Develop solutions considering interfacing systems, operating requirements, maintenance, and serviceability
  • Work with testing teams to validate performance before operations integration
  • Conduct thermal and flow analysis with process engineers
  • Refine piping and vessel mechanisms for industrial applications
  • Troubleshoot mechanical system malfunctions and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and execute test plans and commissioning campaigns for production hardware
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, software developers, and mechanical engineers
  • Support on-call production troubleshooting when needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5–8 years of mechanical design experience
  • CAD knowledge; OnShape experience preferred
  • Experience reviewing and releasing fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, sensor and actuator selection, and requirements development
  • Skilled with fabrication techniques and associated design principles
  • Familiarity with piping standards, flange interfaces, gasket selection, and process system integration
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and assembly experience

This person will apply their technical background and intimate understanding of semiconductor fabrication systems and equipment to translate real engineering problems into manufacturable solutions that only Freeform's technology can unlock. You will own the technical relationship with customers, guide them through application discovery and feasibility, and help shape how Freeform's manufacturing platform is deployed across some of the most ambitious programs in the industry. In addition to the significant stock option package, the estimated salary range for this role is $120,000-$185,000.
