About the Role

This role enhances the reliability and performance of hardware systems, with a heavy emphasis on system-level troubleshooting, vendor management, and test plan development for RF/wireless subsystems and battery/low-power design. The position owns diagnosis of complex hardware issues across sensor and gateway products, serves as the primary technical contact for suppliers and manufacturing partners, and develops validation plans covering RF, power behavior, and reliability.

Responsibilities

System Debug & Test

  • Own end-to-end debug of complex, intermittent, system-level hardware failures across hardware, firmware, RF, and manufacturing domains, and validate fixes before deployment
  • Develop, execute, and document comprehensive system-level test plans including functional, RF/wireless, environmental, power, battery, and reliability testing with clear pass/fail criteria and supporting fixtures and instrumentation

Vendor & Team Management

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for component suppliers, chipset vendors, and contract manufacturers, leading design reviews, technical escalations, and vendor accountability to specifications and commitments
  • Provide technical management and direction to test engineers, including coordination with remote and overseas offices across time zones

Project Management & Documentation

  • Plan and drive validation and debug workstreams to schedule, define milestones, track dependencies, and communicate status across stakeholders
  • Author and maintain technical documentation and repeatable processes
  • Contribute to hardware design reviews and NPI/manufacturing readiness, including DFM feedback, test fixtures, and production line issue resolution

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in hardware design and testing, preferably in embedded systems
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware issues at the system level
  • Experience managing external vendors and manufacturing partners
  • Experience developing and documenting system-level test plans, including RF or wireless testing
  • Experience with circuit design, power design, sensor integration, and noise filtering techniques
  • Strong communication, project management, and documentation skills
  • Experience providing technical direction to test engineers across remote or overseas teams
  • Comfortable working in embedded Linux environments with embedded microcontroller familiarity
