Position Summary

Sr. Director / Director, API Distribution & Commercial Development leads API distribution and repackaging operations, driving revenue growth, customer acquisition, supplier partnerships, regulatory compliance, and operational scalability. The role leverages AI-enabled market intelligence, forecasting, pricing analytics, and automation to improve decision-making, commercial execution, and business performance.

Responsibilities

Business Unit Strategy

  • Lead API distribution strategy aligned with commercial, operational, and regulatory priorities
  • Develop commercialization strategies, financial forecasts, and growth roadmaps
  • Own business unit financial performance, including revenue, margins, expenses, and capital allocation
  • Utilize AI-enabled analytics, forecasting, and operational dashboards to support profitable expansion

Commercial Development

  • Develop go-to-market strategies and lead customer acquisition for 503A and 503B pharmacies
  • Identify growth opportunities, customer needs, and portfolio gaps
  • Build relationships with pharmacy owners and key stakeholders to support retention and revenue growth
  • Use AI-powered analytics and customer insights to strengthen targeting and account planning

Distribution Operations

  • Support design and optimization of warehousing, logistics, inventory management, and operational workflows
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support sourcing strategies and product availability
  • Support ERP, WMS, customer ordering, and DSCSA compliance technologies
  • Utilize AI-assisted automation and reporting tools to improve traceability and operational effectiveness

Regulatory and Quality Governance

  • Support licensing, DEA registration, and regulatory approval activities
  • Partner with Quality Assurance teams on quality systems, supplier qualification, and compliance activities
  • Identify and assess operational, regulatory, commercial, and supply chain risks
  • Apply predictive analytics and risk intelligence tools to support mitigation planning

Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Recruit and develop high-performing teams
  • Partner with Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, IT, and executive leadership
  • Provide business updates, performance insights, and growth recommendations to executive leadership
  • Use AI-powered dashboards and analytics tools to improve reporting and decision-making

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in pharmaceutical distribution, API sourcing, wholesale drug distribution regulations, DSCSA requirements, DEA licensing, supply chain management, and commercial business development

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related discipline required
  • MBA, PharmD, or advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive pharmaceutical distribution, API distribution, wholesale drug distribution, supply chain, or commercial leadership experience
  • Experience launching or scaling business lines or distribution operations in regulated pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences organizations preferred
  • Experience with DEA distributor registration, wholesale distributor licensing, DSCSA compliance, supplier qualification programs, ERP/WMS platforms, and pharmaceutical quality systems preferred
  • Proven ability to build teams, drive customer acquisition, influence executive stakeholders, and deliver measurable growth outcomes
