The Field Engineer applies basic concepts and techniques to plan projects, develop installation drawings, and contribute to project milestones. The role works closely with trades, Cost Managers, and Project Management to determine efficient and cost-effective solutions. Responsibilities include survey, drafting, installation drawings, manufacturing, installation, final acceptance, subcontractor coordination, and engineering support while integrating multidisciplinary engineering design.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, or related engineering disciplines (or equivalent experience)
  • 10-hour and/or 30-hour OSHA certificates preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and Crews on project deliverables
  • Process and manage material deliveries and ensure materials are inspected for quantity and quality according to contract documents
  • Assist with management of subcontractor and material contracts
  • Assist in developing and updating the project schedule
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals
  • Maintain records of submittals, approvals, resubmittals, letters of transmittal, and transaction dates
  • Participate in cost control system operations and construction cost analysis
  • Accumulate data and assist with monthly pay requisitions
  • Prepare required reports and documentation
  • Perform surveys
  • Support planning access, work plans, and safe work plans under PM/APM/Project Engineer guidance
  • Perform other assigned duties

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in basic engineering computations and analysis
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • AutoCAD proficiency preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills
  • Strong understanding of teamwork and group success
  • Ability to accept guidance from management
  • Must be safety oriented

The Project Engineer works under the supervision of Project Managers throughout the entire project. Project work is detail oriented, with a focus on cost efficiency; each phase of an operation is evaluated, planned, possibly re-engineered and built with time and budget in mind. II. QUALIFICATIONS OF THE POSITION: - 5+ years experience working on municipal construction projects. - Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. - Ability to take independent action with a focus on efficient resolution of responsibilities. - Proficiency in basic engineering computations and analysis. - Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. - Working knowledge of Auto Cad or drafting software. - Knowledge of CMiC software is a plus. - Must be safety oriented.
