This position will report to the Principal Product Manager.

Summary of Role

Palmetto's device data and performance platform is the system of record for tracking, understanding, and optimizing the performance of solar, battery, and emerging clean energy assets in the field. As the Senior Product Manager for Device Data & Performance, you will own the strategic direction of a platform serving internal business units, field technicians, OEM partners, financial stakeholders, and homeowners.

This role involves defining how Palmetto connects with hardware manufacturers through integration partnerships, shaping data models for performance monitoring and alerting, and building workflows for field service and asset management teams.

You will collaborate across Asset Management, Field Service, Operations, Customer Support, Finance, and Engineering.

Strategic & Tactical

Data Ingestion & OEM Integration Architecture

  • Own the strategy for ingesting device data from OEM partners including solar inverters, batteries, HVAC systems, and emerging asset types.
  • Develop expertise in push vs. pull integration patterns, including scheduled API polling, webhooks, and direct data feeds.
  • Lead integration negotiations related to data access terms, rate limits, signal coverage, and SLA commitments.
  • Build scalable integration frameworks that simplify onboarding new OEMs.

Data Transformation & Platform Schema

  • Own the data transformation layer and normalize heterogeneous device signals into consistent schemas.
  • Design and maintain standardized data models and API response contracts.
  • Partner with engineering to optimize pipeline reliability, ingestion latency, and data quality.
  • Define and enforce data quality standards, SLAs, and alerting thresholds.

Platform Empowerment & Self-Service

  • Establish contribution patterns, documentation standards, and platform guardrails.
  • Build self-service capabilities for querying, filtering, and acting on device data.
  • Promote standardized responses, service contracts, and shared tooling.
  • Drive adoption of platform standards across internal stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring & Alerting

  • Define monitoring standards for solar and battery performance.
  • Evolve alerting logic toward production-based and outcome-driven alerting.
  • Expand monitoring coverage for new asset types including HVAC systems and future electrification products.

Consumer-Facing Data & Energy Transparency

  • Own how device data is presented to homeowners.
  • Define presentation of production and consumption energy data.
  • Partner with Consumer Experience and Customer Support teams to ensure data quality and transparency.

Roadmap, Planning & Execution

  • Own product strategy, OKRs, roadmap, and quarterly planning.
  • Use AI to accelerate discovery, learning cycles, and productivity.
  • Run delivery cycles with engineering teams and foster transparency and accountability.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through clear communication.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management experience, ideally with external integrations, data platforms, or IoT/hardware-connected systems.
  • Demonstrated experience owning integration roadmaps and working with external vendors.
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, or operational intelligence products.
  • Background in energy, clean tech, or hardware-adjacent industries is a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to define long-term platform direction.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Data fluency and SQL proficiency or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
