Team Overview
In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Communications and PR and are responsible for managing the creation of speeches, briefing documents, op-eds, and other content for ADF's CEO, President and Chief Counsel, and other senior leaders as needed; overseeing research and information gathering for reports for executive leadership, donors and key stakeholders, collaborating with the Vice President of Communications on messaging, statements, and other communications content.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop executive communications (speeches, briefing documents, op-eds, presentations, statements, etc.) primarily for the CEO, President and Chief Counsel.
- Prepare and/or edit messaging documents for internal and external communications.
- Develop periodic summaries and presentations for the Board of Directors.
- Translate objectives, team performance, and organizational vision into stories and messages that relate to specific audiences.
- Oversee and coordinate research and information-gathering related to ADF cases and Legal and Communications team performance for reports for executive leadership, donors, and key stakeholders, and for speeches and remarks delivered by the CEO, President and Chief Counsel.
- Maintain a database of material for use in speeches and op-eds.
- Develop and maintain a library system cataloging speeches, presentations, and media appearances delivered by the CEO, President and General Counsel, and other spokespeople.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of executive communications experience, including speech writing and content development.
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or similar academic discipline.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to compose consistently accurate and compelling commentary and other communication materials under tight deadlines.
- Strong strategic thinking skills regarding the development of communication strategies.
- Ability to prioritize a variety of projects and following all projects through to completion on time.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in Associated Press style writing.
- Reliable, dependable, and trustworthy with confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of constitutional law and legal terminology.
- Knowledge of government (executive, legislative agency), from the local to federal levels.
- Knowledge of ideological, cultural, and legal trends; familiarity with relevant thought leaders and organizations.

Location: Hybrid, On-site 4 days/week in Washington, D.C. 20036 and 1 day Telework Job Type: Full-time Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required Clearance Requirement: Active Secret or higher clearance Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure including VMs, VNets, Storage, Azure AD, and PaaS services. Manage and optimize Azure networking components (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, VPN/ExpressRoute connectivity). Develop and maintain Terraform templates as the primary IaC tool (critical requirement emphasized by hiring managers). Support automation via PowerShell, Bash, YAML/JSON, and GitLab pipelines. Deploy, configure, and manage AVD environments including host pools, session hosts, FSLogix profile containers, and Azure AD/M365 integrations. Provide troubleshooting and performance optimization for AVD users (explicit customer requirement). Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines in GitLab. Automate cloud operations, system configuration, and monitoring tasks. Implement secure cloud practices aligned with federal requirements (RBAC, Key Vault, IAM, encryption standards). Ensure compliance with NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, and agency-specific controls. Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools to analyze system health, diagnose issues, and enforce SLAs. Work with engineering, security, and program staff to support ongoing cloud modernization efforts. Support onsite collaboration with customer stakeholders (note: role cannot be performed remotely long-term).
