Role Overview
Agility Robotics is seeking a Staff HiL Software Infrastructure Engineer to join the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) team. This role will lead the development of a modular, rack-based Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) ecosystem for the next-generation V5 humanoid robot. You will be responsible for the core software infrastructure powering automated testing, including real-time simulation models, CI/CD pipelines, and hardware interface libraries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and scale test automation frameworks for continuous firmware and software regression testing
- Build and manage automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for firmware flashing and test execution on physical HiL runners
- Develop high-fidelity real-time models for motor, encoder, communication framework, and sensor emulation
- Create and maintain software libraries for industrial hardware protocols including EtherCAT, CAN, SPI, I2C, SCPI-controlled power supplies, and PXI relay APIs
- Configure and maintain Linux-based workstations as GitHub Actions self-hosted runners
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineers and Firmware teams on signal mapping, fault injection, and sensor simulation strategies
- Programmatically control Fault Injection Units (FIU) to simulate electrical fault conditions on robot signals
Technical Skills & Requirements
Core Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in test engineering, design verification, or electrical validation
- Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or other complex hardware systems preferred
- Extensive experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems and Verification & Validation (V&V) methodologies
- Strong proficiency in Python and MATLAB/Simulink for automation and real-time model development
- Experience with GitHub Actions and test automation frameworks in hardware-focused environments
- Deep understanding of EtherCAT, Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C, and differential UART
- Experience with dSpace or NI real-time simulation platforms and Linux RT
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Acontis and EtherCAT simulation
- Experience with Linux system administration and Docker
- Experience with robotics simulation platforms such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, Gazebo, or Webots
- Experience with programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and PXI-based switching hardware
- Experience in startup or New Product Introduction (NPI) environments
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

You will design and maintain automated test suites for RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures on AWS, execute performance and load testing, validate partner integrations including delivery and payment platforms, and integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions. The role expects active use of AI-assisted tools as a core part of daily quality engineering work. What you will do Build automated test frameworks for serverless applications; Validate event-driven workflows and asynchronous messaging; Execute performance and load testing; Validate resiliency and failure scenarios; Design, build, and maintain automated test suites covering functional, integration, and contract testing for middleware APIs and services ensuring correct behavior in isolation and across dependencies; Leverage AI-assisted tools for test case generation, synthetic data creation, failure analysis, and coverage documentation; Own performance and reliability validation including load, stress, spike, and soak testing, establishing baselines and identifying bottlenecks; Partner with engineers throughout the development cycle to align on test strategy, acceptance criteria, and CI/CD integration via Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions; Validate third-party integrations through contract testing, sandbox/staging validation, and failure mode analysis; Track and report quality metrics, maintain documentation, and contribute to incident post-mortems.
