What We're Looking For

We are looking for a Director of Legal Operations to serve as the operational backbone of Lightning AI's Legal team. This is a senior, highly cross-functional role for a self-directed operator who thrives on building structure, driving outcomes, and solving hard problems without waiting to be told how.

You will own the systems, tools, and processes that enable our legal function to scale alongside one of the fastest-growing companies in AI infrastructure and serve as a strategic partner to the VP of Legal and the broader organization.

This is a hybrid role based in our New York City or San Francisco office with in-office requirements of 2 days per week.

What You'll Do

  • Own and drive the Legal team's operational strategy, including setting quarterly priorities and targets, tracking progress against department goals, and delivering reporting to executive leadership.
  • Establish and maintain metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks for visibility into workload, performance, and outcomes.
  • Prepare executive materials including board and leadership presentations, department reviews, and briefing documents.
  • Evaluate, implement, and administer legal technology including CLM, regulatory, and KYC tooling.
  • Redesign and improve legal processes through scalable workflows, playbooks, and templates.
  • Partner with Finance on corporate entity management and tax matters.
  • Administer cap table management and equity plan operations with the People team.
  • Coordinate inventory management and compliance records with the Infrastructure team.
  • Partner with Engineering on IP portfolio tracking and open-source licensing management.
  • Lead cross-functional legal operational initiatives from planning through execution.

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of legal operations experience in a technology company or law firm environment.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience.
  • Hands-on experience with CLM systems, KYC tooling, and legal technology platforms.
  • Knowledge of corporate entity management, cap table administration, IP, and open-source licensing.
  • Experience building metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Compensation

Final offers are based on experience, skills, geographic location, and role expectations. Compensation includes base salary, discretionary bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Annual base salary range: $160,000—$200,000 USD
